This is an awesome NEW fluorescent light fixture!
These are NEW fixtures and they measure 24" long.
It is white, and it takes 1 x F20T12 fluorescent bulb (not included).
Comes complete with the preheat ballast and starter!
This is a heavy duty light fixture.
This fixture is easy to retrofit into an LED fixture. If you change out the ballast, you can add LED bulbs, and it will be an LED fixture. Let me know if you are going to do that, and I will remove the ballast for you!
Instructions:
Components of the Fluorescent Fixture
- Fixture Housing/Chassis: The metal base that attaches to the ceiling.
- Ballast: The component that regulates voltage.
- Tombstones (Sockets): Where the tubes plug in.
- Cover Plate: Covers the wiring.
- Fluorescent Tubes: The bulbs (not included).
Step-by-Step Assembly & Installation
- Safety First: Turn off the circuit breaker for the light location and verify power is off with a tester.
- Prepare the Housing: Knock out the holes in the fixture for the electrical wire.
- Mount the Base: Secure the metal housing to the ceiling or use toggle bolts/anchors for drywall.
- Wiring the Fixture:
- Snap the tombstone sockets to the sides of the base.
- Connect the house wiring to the fixture wiring using wire nuts.
- White to White (Neutral).
- Black to Black (Hot).
- Green or Bare to the Ground screw/wire.
- Put in the starter in the starter holder.
- Install the Cover Plate: Position the wires to avoid pinching and snap the cover into place.
- Insert the Tubes: Align the pins on the ends of the tubes (sold separately) vertically with the slots in the tombstones, push up, and rotate 90 degrees until they lock.
- Finalize and Test: Turn the power back on, and test the light
- Trouble Shooting Tips: It is important to get the starter seated with a twist. It is also important to note that the short black wire coming out of the ballast is the hot wire.
