3 Victoria Era Ceramic or Porcelain Invalid Feeders ! Free ship in lower 48 !.
Victorian invalid feeders were ceramic or metal cups with a handle and a long spout. Caregivers used them to feed liquid meals to sick or weak patients. They prevented spills and let bedridden people drink while lying down. The cups were also used to feed infants.
How They Worked:
The Design:
The cup looked like a small, covered gravy boat or teapot. A half-cover on the top kept liquids from splashing.
The Use:
A caregiver poured soft food (like watery porridge, called "pap") or liquid medicine into the cup. The patient—or the caregiver—held the cup by the handle and placed the spout in the mouth.Care at HomeDuring the Victorian era, wealthy families treated sick loved ones at home. They bought these feeders at local chemist shops to feed sick children or grandparents.
Types of FeedersCeramic:
Many were made of white porcelain or ironstone. These often featured floral patterns or gold trim.
Precious Metals:
Wealthier families purchased sterling silver feeders.
Finding and Collecting:

One of these feeders looks just slightly larger than the other and the feeding tube end has a larger hold for dispensing liquid. The larger one is also in great condition with no cracks or breaks and is marked in ink on the bottom with the model number or mold number I believe. This one is a side handle feeder and measures about 5 3/4 inches long to the end of the…
