”This is a comprehensive and invaluable guide to pressed glass, figure bottles, the designs which were produced and the companies which manufactured them. [The author] outlines the development of the industry from the first simple pressing machines through the complicated machinery and molds which later became common place. He explains the importance of various processes and tells which factories were responsible for them. He devotes a chapter to each of the noteworthy companies involved in pressed glass production attributing, often for the first time, certain glass patterns to them and correcting outstanding attributions. The author devotes the last chapter to figure bottles. He identifies and attributes many of the bottles, giving the name of the designer, the date the bottles were made, and other pertinent information”.

Lavishly illustrated in black-and-white, this scarce text takes you through an alphabetical listing of hundreds of manufacturers of early pressed glass and figure bottles. Manufacturers, dates, glass types, patterns, add reproductions, illustrations, and more add to the scholarly survey of these firms.
