Antique Framed Crazy Quilt Fragment Washington Grain & Milling Co Reardan Sack

For sale is a beautiful piece of Pacific Northwest folk art and textile history. This is an authentic antique/vintage "crazy quilt" fragment that has been beautifully framed in a rustic, weathered wood frame.

The Highlight (The Backing): The true prize of this piece is the historical utility backing. The quilt is backed with an original cotton flour/grain sack from the Washington Grain & Milling Co. based out of Reardan, Washington. The printed graphic features the company's bold red and green "WG" monogram intertwined with wheat stalks. The Washington Grain & Milling Co. was a prominent staple of Lincoln County agricultural history after its founding in 1899, making this a fantastic piece of regional Americana.

The Quilt Top: The front showcases classic turn-of-the-century crazy quilt construction. It features an asymmetric patchwork of sturdier period fabrics—including wools, plaids, and cottons—bound together with traditional, visible hand-embroidered feather-stitching along the seams.

Condition & Presentation: Frame: Housed in a sturdy, heavy rustic wood frame that perfectly complements the folk-art aesthetic. Textile Condition: Excellent antique condition for its age. Unlike many Victorian crazy quilts made with weighted silks that shatter over time, these sturdier wool and cotton fabrics have held up remarkably well. Please review the photos for exact cosmetic condition. Markings: No artist signatures or dates found. Shipping: Will be packed with extreme care using heavy-duty bubble wrap to ensure the frame arrives safely.
