About this product
Old Gravestone Rubbing of Slave Joe Tom (1808-1881) born Barbados / died New York state. Graphite on antique rice paper. Approximately 26” x 16.5”
The rubbing was made in the late 19th or early 20th century. The gravestone is located in Cooperstown, NY.
Very good condition - no rips or tears. Tape can be easily removed by touch. From an old family collection. The matriarchs were original from New York state. They moved to New Orleans in the 1950s. Recently found preserved stored inside a tube. Will be listing more rubbings from this collection.
