-----------------------------------------------------------------

Antique handwritten Quran (Koran) manuscript leaf, framed and matted. Estate sale find, sold as-is and as-shown.

The page has 9 lines of Arabic text in black naskh script, each set within gold "cloud band" illumination, with a Persian (Farsi) interlinear translation written in red ink beneath each line. The text appears to be from Surah Al-An'am (chapter 6), verses 63-66. Gold and black ruled border lines surround the text.

PROVENANCE NOTE: A handwritten note on the backing board reads "Koran Leaf. Black = Arabic, Red Persian (Farsi) 16th Century," dated 15 Oct. 1988, with names and the number "#327." This is a prior owner's attribution only. I have not had the leaf authenticated or dated and make no claim as to its age or origin beyond what is written on the back.

MEASUREMENTS (approximate):

- Frame: 11 3/4" wide x 17 1/2" tall

- Visible leaf: 6 1/4" wide x 11" tall
