About this product
This is an antique manual telephone switchboard patch and cord plug assembly. The cloth-insulated cord has long brass jacks at the ends which switchboard operators used to manually connect telephone lines through a central switchboard system. The switchback/switchboard key was used on the operator's desk to control functions of individual phone lines.
The switchback/switchboard key is engraved Switchcraft with an R in a circle after that.
Tools are attached to red felt in an ornate and sturdy wooden shadow box with glass front and clasp closure.
The Switchcraft company was associated with Western Electric telecommunications.
