Connecting a fully-charged D-Tap 14V+ battery usually reaches the 16-17V range. The maximum for Bolex electronics is 15V. Connecting most D-Tap batteries directly to Bolex electronics will cause its fuse to blow (if present) or damage the electronics (if no fuse).
You will need a regulated 12V D-Tap power source to use this cable safely. The Kondor Blue D-Tap Hub (KB-DTAP-HUB) DOES NOT work reliably with my EL, and it is rated for 3A. With the Kondor Blue, the EL often runs for a single-frame and stops, especially at lower speeds. The Hawk Woods VL-DC6X and VLM-DC6X should work well because they have multiple 12V regulated D-Tap ports. The Du-all 12V regulated V-mount plate is another option in the US. The FxLion Atto One is another possibility (12V D-Tap battery).
Unfortunately, it can be challenging to find 12V regulated power sources with enough current (amps) for the EL because of its low voltage detection circuit and high startup current requirement. The low voltage detector stops the EL from running if it detects voltage that is too low. If the power source cannot provide enough current (amps) to get the EL motor going, the voltage drops to compensate. Then, the EL low voltage detector stops the motor. The camera will only run for a single frame in that scenario. Some 12V 3A sources work for the EL, and some don't. I recommend at least 12V 3.5A.
This ~0.5m (20") power cable uses a 4-pin right-angle Tuchel connector from Amphenol to connect to an EL. It allows you to power your EL from a 12V regulated D-Tap power source. The right-angle connector is much more expensive than the straight connector.
I test the cable with an EL when I build it and before packaging it to ship your order.
