CCM Tacks XF 80 Junior and Senior Hockey Shin Guards-Black

The CCM Tacks XF 80 Hockey Shin Guards are a mid-tier offering from CCM, designed for performance and competitive-level hockey players who need solid protection without the top-tier price tag. They are part of the Tacks protective line, which is known for its high-profile, anatomical fit that emphasizes maximum coverage.

Here's a breakdown of the key features and characteristics of the CCM Tacks XF 80 shin guards:

Fit and Construction

• Fit Profile: The Tacks line, including the XF 80, is characterized by a high-profile, anatomical fit. This means the pads are designed to provide a close-to-the-body, secure fit while offering maximum coverage over the shin, calf, and knee areas.
• Anatomical Shield Design (ASD): The shin guards use a multi-piece construction that is pre-shaped to the natural contours of the leg. This design is intended to improve mobility while ensuring the protective padding stays in the correct position.

Protection Technologies

• JDP Kneecap: A cornerstone of the Tacks line is the JDP (Joint Dispersion Protection) kneecap. This is a plastic dome-like cap that is engineered to disperse the force of an impact away from the sensitive knee joint and into the surrounding foam padding. This is a crucial feature for protecting against blocked shots and impacts from falls.
• Injection-Molded Calf Guard: The XF 80 features an exposed, injection-molded plastic guard on the calf. This provides a high level of protection against slashes and shots from behind, a common feature in higher-end shin guards.
• Segmented Shin Shell: The main shin shell is often segmented, which allows for better flex and a more comfortable fit while maintaining solid protection. The knee and shin cap are made from sturdy plastic to absorb direct impacts.
• Mid-Density Foam: The thigh guard and a significant portion of the side and calf protection are made with mid-density foams, which provide a good balance of impact absorption and weight.
