DJ Lady Tribe, No. 1 of 5 LA Graffiti Culture Photo | Eriberto Oriol

DJ LADY TRIBE — “ARRIVAL”

Heels on, completely at ease, DJ Lady Tribe sits before a fresh SHAKA piece in Los Angeles. SHAKA, Noel G. and Nocturnal are around her.

She didn’t ask to belong. She was already there.

Eriberto Oriol caught her as she was: already part of the scene. In an era when graffiti and street culture were overwhelmingly male, her presence gives this photograph its power.

Previously unpublished, “Arrival” is a color C print from an era often remembered in black and white.
