This magnificent piece is a real Madagascan Sunset Moth in Resin. With is captivating vivid colors, this rare Moth display would be a stunning addition to any oddities decor. Its rarity and natural beauty also make it a remarkable centerpiece for any entomology collection.
The Sunset Moth (Scientific name Chrysiridia rhipheus) is a striking day-flying moth known for its iridescent, rainbow-like wings that shimmer in the light. Native to Madagascar, it is often considered one of the most beautiful insects in the world.
Lucite block measures approximately 3 3/4 inches square.
To preserve its natural beauty, this specimen's wings were carefully removed, protected, and then reassembled before being set in resin. In certain lighting, subtle signs of this preservation may be visible. As with all natural specimens in resin, size, coloring, and positioning of moth within the lucite can vary. We guarantee you will receive a quality specimen but not the exact one in photos.
