About this product
A mid to late 18th century cello bearing the label of Leopold Widhalm, dated 1769. Label may be spurious but the cello is unquestionably of the period and of a very typical German, Austrian, or Bohemian model.
NUMEROUS old cracks and repairs of varying quality as shown in the photos. Cello does have very resonant and responsive tone with ample volume but will require revision to the repairs and setup work to be optimal. Grafted neck.
Back length: 755 mm
String Length: 700 mm
Lower Bout: 420 mm
Shoulder-to bridge length: 410 mm
NOTE: Looking for old bass viola da gamba of similar age and origin needing restoration. Corpus and scroll/head must be original.
