Product Overview

This listing is for a DIY component kit to build the Open2327RomAdapter, an open-hardware ROM adapter designed by SukkoPera.

The adapter allows commonly available 28-pin 27xxx EPROMs / EEPROMs to be used in place of original 24-pin 2364 ROMs and can also be configured for certain 2332 ROM applications.

It is particularly useful for ROM replacement, repair, restoration, and multi-ROM configurations in vintage Commodore VIC-20, Commodore 64, and 1541 disk drive hardware.

Larger EPROMs / EEPROMs can hold multiple ROM images. The additional address-selection connections on the adapter can be used with external switches to select between the stored ROM images.

Extra Resistors Included: This kit includes 5 each of the 10k and 0-ohm 0805 resistors. This is more than is required to assemble one adapter. The extras are intentionally included in case one of these very small SMD components is lost or damaged during assembly.

PLEASE NOTE: EPROM / EEPROM, ROM-selection switches, external switch wiring, programmer, soldering equipment, and tools are NOT included.

Machined Socket Pins Included

This kit includes 2 x 1x12 machined male pin header strips for the 24 connections that plug into the original ROM socket.

These machined pins were specifically chosen for applications where the completed adapter will be plugged into an existing IC socket. Their round machined contacts are much more appropriate for insertion into an IC socket than conventional square pin header and help reduce the risk of spreading or damaging the contacts inside an original vintage socket.
