The Tesla autopilot buddy that keeps the cabin camera satisfied

Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) watch your face through the interior camera. FSD Buddy is a weighted, life-like head that rides in that camera's view

Why drivers look for an autopilot buddy

Tesla moved driver monitoring from steering-wheel torque to the interior camera. Wheel weights no longer help, because the sensor being checked is the camera above the rear-view mirror — it scores head pose and eye position several times a second.

An autopilot buddy answers that camera in its own language: a forward-facing head, positioned exactly where the lens is looking.
