USAAF TYPE E-6B AERIAL DEAD RECKONING COMPUTER W/CASE

This is a rare and authentic early World War II issue Type E-6B Aerial Dead Reckoning Computer, as used by the U.S. Army Air Forces. A cornerstone of wartime aerial navigation, this instrument was essential equipment for pilots, navigators, and bombardiers during flight operations.

Unlike later aluminum versions, this early model is constructed of solid brass with nickel plating, giving it both durability and a distinctive appearance. The top is clearly and boldly marked “U.S. ARMY AIR FORCES”, confirming its military provenance.

The E-6B was a critical flight tool capable of solving multiple navigation problems including wind correction, ground speed, fuel consumption, time en route, and more. Its unique dual-sided design includes a circular slide rule on one side and a wind correction grid on the reverse—innovative and precise for its time.

This particular unit comes complete with its original WWII-era leather carrying case, showing signs of use but remaining intact, with strong stitching and a functional flap closure. It also includes a 1942 Order Number, verifying its wartime production and issue during the early years of U.S. involvement in the conflict.
