This original vintage Charga-Plate is associated with Kansas City, Kansas, with the embossed customer address showing Kansas City, KS. Before modern plastic credit cards, metal charge plates like this were used by retailers to imprint customer account information onto sales slips. Today they are sought after by collectors of financial history, Americana, genealogy, and early advertising memorabilia.
The plate features embossed customer information and an original signature. Although no specific retailer is identified on the plate, it remains an authentic example of a mid-century charge plate and an interesting piece of American consumer and banking history.
