About this product
This striking vintage postcard features a vivid photochrome image of Utah Railway Company's locomotives number 301 and 304. These Alco-built RSD-4 units, each developing 1,600 horsepower, are captured north of Helper, Utah on April 22, 1977. The locomotives stand out in their distinctive red and white paint scheme, set against a rugged mountainous backdrop that highlights the beauty and industrial might of the Utah railway system.
Printed by International Graphics in Hollywood, Florida, this standard 5.5 x 3.5 inch postcard is part of a collectible series showcasing historic trains. The card credits photographer Mary Jayne Rowe and provides interesting context about the Utah Railway's primary freight of outbound coal. Its photochrome printing technique from the modern era (1939-present) offers rich, lifelike colors that appeal to railroad enthusiasts and collectors alike.
