Item Description

Title: Vintage Hand-Crafted Wooden Rocking Elephant Toy (Dated 1986)

Up for sale is a beautifully constructed, vintage artisan-made wooden rocking elephant. Dated May 31, 1986, and hand-signed on the inner base "By Frank Dripps," this piece features an eye-catching design reminiscent of Scandinavian and post-mid-century modern children's furniture.

Built with durable barrel-slat style curves, smooth rounded edges, and prominent wooden accent pegs, it doubles as both a functional, sturdy children's rocker and a striking piece of rustic/modernist nursery decor. It features a natural sisal rope tail fastened securely with heavy-duty staples and integrated wooden handle grips for safety.

Condition Report

This item is in very good vintage condition for its age, remaining exceptionally sturdy, solid, and completely functional.

• Surface Wear: Displays a warm, aged patina with minor surface scuffs, light scratches, and small indentations consistent with careful historical use.
• Natural Character: There is a distinct dark grain variance/natural wood coloration on the elephant's left ear area (as visible in photos), which is a characteristic of the wood itself and not a post-production stain or defect.
• Tail: The sisal rope tail shows light fraying at the tip, adding to its vintage character, but remains firmly attached.
• Markings: The handwritten artist signature and date on the underside remain clear, crisp, and fully legible.
